Monthly Index of electricity consumption in the services sector (IMSER)

With the monthly service index (IMSER), Terna monitors the electricity consumption trend in the Services sector, also thanks to the data provided by some of the main distribution network operators (E-Distribuzione, Unareti, A-Reti, Edyna and Deval). Such index, with 2021 as its 100 base, enables the monitoring of around 80% of electricity consumption of the entire Italian Services sector, broken down by product category (hotels, restaurants and bars, commerce, education, transport, etc.). Data are aggregated by region, province and Ateco 2007 code. Considering the time frames required for acquisition and processing of data, the IMSER index is necessarily around two months behind the IMCEI index, i.e. the monthly industrial electricity consumption index, and, just like the latter, it is a valid indicator of our country’s economic trend.

Info about the data

In the foreground, the chart shows the value of the index with base 2021=100 of the latest month available, the percentage change with regards to the same month of the previous year and to the previous month of the current year, as well as the total GWh.

The charts show the % variation y-o-y, and its trend during the selected period.

The IMSER value is usually published after the middle of the month n+2.

Numerical data are always presented in English format (the full stop is used to separate decimals, comma to separate thousands).

Info about the data

Data on electricity consumption broken down by class, following the ATECO2007 classification adopted by ISTAT.

Each class shows the monthly consumption in GWh, the y-o-y variation, the cumulative figure for the selected period and the percentage weight in terms of the cumulative total.

Numerical data are always presented in English format (the full stop is used to separate decimals, comma to separate thousands).

Info about the data

The percentage change and total electricity consumption of the services sector, compared to the previous year, broken down by region.

The chart shows the monthly consumption in GWh for each region and the percentage change compared to the same month of the previous year by province, class and sub-class.

Numerical data are always presented in English format (the full stop is used to separate decimals, comma to separate thousands).
